BJP attempting to form Govt. through the backdoor: APCC
Mockery of democracy: Ering
ITANAGAR, Jun 27: Making no delay in reacting to media report that Central BJP leadership has set June 30 deadline for Chief Minister Kalikho Pul to merge his regional People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) with the saffron party; Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) described the move 'shameful' and an attempt to form a government through the backdoor.
"The true color of BJP and its hidden agenda has been revealed after BJP State Unit President Tapir Gao confirmed that he had conveyed the direction of Party President Amit Shah to Pul to merge with BJP," said APCC president Padi Richo.
Taking a dig at state BJP leadership, Richo stated that few months back, the BJP had denied its involvement in political crisis in Arunachal Pradesh, but after the change of guard in State BJP, the party leaders are now saying that they were part of the political crisis and toppling of the Congress Govt. in the State.
Reiterating the party's claim how the BJP party used the Raj Bhawan to create a political mess in the state that ultimately had led to ouster of Nabam Tuki Government, Richo stated that  Modi Govt. has imposed President's Rule in the state forcefully without knowing the ground reality.
Richo went to say that "The PPA being the lone regional party in the state should not succumb to the pressure and tactics of BJP and keep its own identity and dignity intact."
Member of Parliament Ninong Ering also reacted strongly to the latest political development in the state.
"The move is nothing but mockery of democracy," Ering stated in a release. He also said that the idea behind the move is dangerous not only to Arunachal Pradesh but to the very idea of India.
It seems that a party with 280 plus seats at Union level is still scared of the Indian National Congress Party. This is why they are putting their best efforts to merge PPA with BJP. A politics of narrow minds and short vision won't yield any fruits for anyone, he added.
Chief Minister Kalikho Pul recently attended the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) meet in Guwahati, wherein strengthening of regional parties were emphasized using NEDA as platform for development and growth.
At a time when he is taking positive efforts to do good for the people of Arunachal in particular and North East in general then why is BJP creating hurdles and roadblocks to suppress a smaller party like PPA, Ering questioned.
He said that BJP's effort to merge PPA within them is just a desperate effort to establish their rule and kill smaller parties. It is agenda of BJP now to dislodge Congress Governments in smaller states, especially in North-Eastern region and force smaller parties to join them to establish their own rule, he added.

Be cautious

After assuming the office, Chief Minister Kalikho Pul has been pushing hard to revive the hydropower projects stuck in various stages. Pul has been meeting central leaders to expedite the pending projects. Several projects, the MOU/MOA for which was signed during late Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu's era are stuck in various stages. Recently even NITI Aayog agreed to promote project upto 100 MW as small hydropower projects under Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in Arunachal Pradesh. This decision was arrived after Pul sought the help of the planning body to develop state's untapped hydropower potential. There is no doubt that hydropower along with tourism and agri-horti sector has huge potential in the future.

However, state government should be cautious while promoting hydropower sector. Sections of Arunachalees are strongly opposed to mega dams and are not ready to part away with their land. The local sentiment should be respected in such kind of situation. Also even as state government is pushing hard to revive the hydro sector, the Pare Project Land Affected Welfare Committee (PPLAWC) has alleged that NEEPCO is turning its back from its earlier promise of providing job to the family member of project affected. Infact a bitter feud is expected over this issue in days to come. State government should immediately intervene and give justice to the land donors. This kind of incident should not be allowed to happen. Certain percentage of job should be reserved for the project affected family. It is duty of state government to ensure that hydro power companies comply with all the condition set at the time of signing MOU/MOA.

ALG and realignments of TAH

Dear Editor,

It was in 31st January 2008 Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister had announced the historic package of Trans Arunachal Highways at Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar which would connect entire districts of this State from Tawang to Kanubari. Accordingly, the alignment of this two lane highways was been approved by Ministry of Transport and Highways, Govt.of India. At this point of time the Indian Air Force had never raised re-alignment issue in proximity of Ziro for Flight Safety of ALG Ziro.

A Gazette Notification regarding ALG Ziro was published vide REGD.NO.D.L(N) 04/0007/2003-05, dated  31st March 2011.Within the purview of this notification,  the DC Ziro had issued a Prohibitory Orders on 13th Dec 2011 against construction of any kind of building/structure, tree plantation in area land of 900 metres from the crest of the outer parapet of ALG Ziro.

In 2013 in a meeting attended by MLA, DC,  Air Force representatives, CE(Highways WZ) AP,SE & RO MORTH and a ZPM had resolved that NOC is a pre requisite from Air Force for coming up two lane highways around ALG Ziro.

The situation had become more serious with raising of re-alignment issue of Highways in proximity of ALG Ziro with a reminder letter addressed to Ministry of Transport & Highways, Govt of India by Air Force.

Today due to re-alignment issue, the reassessment of compensation cannot be carried out for highways of Hapoli-Ziro further delaying the compensation issue of Potin to Bopi sector. Further, issue of NOC or re-alignment has not been found in proximity of ALGs of Aalo, Pasighat, Tezu where some portion of the same highway are running parallel to the ALG.

Now concern authority of State Government has to come up with results of any action taken up with IAF to this effect.

Simultaneously, the District Administration has to make realistic approach to this issue and it is a call to the public to extend actual cooperation with District Administration for earliest solution otherwise highways road condition will be nightmare for all f us.

Yours,

Taro Chatung,

Senior Journalist,

Historic justice

Dear Editor,

Brexit is not just going to end up in the exit of UK from the EU. The referendum is going to have far reaching impacts than just exit of Britain from the European economic forum. Whether Great Britain will continue to remain as Great Britain or United Kingdom in the near future is a million dollar question. The referendum of Scotland to remain as part of UK was won with a thin margin with significant support for Scottish independence. The western media strongly suspects that Brexit will strengthen the demands for a new referendum for Scottish independence once again. If Scotland follows the independence path, can Ireland be far away? Whatever may be the future socio-economic or geopolitical consequence, I view this as a historic justice. Great Britain and for that matter all the European colonial powers have been responsible for the partition of  so many countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America; the most prominent being the tragic partition of the Indian subcontinent. It is quite an irony that history repeats itself paying back in the same coins for those who contributed to such divisions among other communities. Let the European colonial masters feel the pain of partition as countless millions endured across India.

High handedness of SBI staff

Dear Editor,

This is in light of the rude, unruly behavior and high handedness of SBI Staffs. I visited the G-Extension branch on Friday (26th of June 2016), to deposit some cash through Green Channel (ATM Deposit). I took a token for the same and went ahead for the deposit when my token number was called for, at Counter No. 04.

When I approached the counter, I could see a gentleman already there, trying to deposit cash. Now the madam at the counter was unhappy as the gentleman did not arrange the cash in an orderly fashion; the madam rudely returned the money to the gentleman asking him to arrange the cash in a proper order and then come again for the deposit.

As my turn was next, I took out my ATM, Cash; I gave her the ATM when she asked; suddenly out of nowhere she started scolding me for not handing her the cash at the same time with the ATM. I was just giving her time to swap the machine and thought of giving her the cash then. She then started giving me lectures of how people come to deposit money but hesitate to give it. She also started telling me how her arms were aching collecting all the money in the world by herself. At first, I couldn’t believe my ears, but she went on complaining. I kept my calm; let her take her time to deposit the amount to my account. Then the staff on the right side (Counter No. 05) joined her, started asking me sarcastically “Bhai, aap logo ko paisa toh deposit karna hai, lekin paisa nahi dene se bhi hojaayega lagata hai naa”?

I was about to leave the bank as my transaction was done, but they kept on complaining as if it was my fault that I came to the bank for the deposit. That was it. I asked the madam, if she was there to do her work or not? I also told her that the way she spoke is not in line and she should execute her duty properly instead of giving the customers hell. But then, she started screaming at me, threatening me “Jyaada Mat Bolo De”, as if she was going to come out and fight with me. I then knew that her battle is with herself and not me.

I was and am totally shocked by the behavior of such staffs.

Anyway, I left the bank as I know better, maybe she is just frustrated with her life, or not happy with her job; nonetheless taking it out on the customers is totally wrong and uncalled for.

Maybe she’ll meet her match someday.

Now, the main motto of this letter is to ask the Bank Officials, the Managers to keep a check on their Staffs; assess their behavior, attitude towards the customers, as this is not the first or last case of ill-treatment of customers by your staffs. We can usually see a lot of mishaps occurring in your banks; mainly poor people getting harassed, treated badly by your staffs due to little or no fault of theirs.

Also, madam (Counter No. 04); if by chance you get to read this letter, know that I wish you well, but there are a lot of highly qualified people with better manners, unemployed/jobless; who will take your place if they are ever given a chance. So please, be happy that you have got a job and execute it dutifully. Most of all, stop giving customers a bad time and your company a bad name just because you are having a bad day. Stop complaining about your body aches or just stay at home. And please, get a life.

And to the SBI Staffs, “Know that you are there in your chair because of the customers and not the other way around.” Being polite and humane doesn’t levy any taxes.

Yours,

Kaling Tali,

E-Sector, Naharlagun
