ITANAGAR, Jun 27: Making no delay in reacting to media report that Central BJP leadership has set June 30 deadline for Chief Minister Kalikho Pul to merge his regional People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) with the saffron party; Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) described the move 'shameful' and an attempt to form a government through the backdoor.
"The true color of BJP and its hidden agenda has been revealed after BJP State Unit President Tapir Gao confirmed that he had conveyed the direction of Party President Amit Shah to Pul to merge with BJP," said APCC president Padi Richo.
Taking a dig at state BJP leadership, Richo stated that few months back, the BJP had denied its involvement in political crisis in Arunachal Pradesh, but after the change of guard in State BJP, the party leaders are now saying that they were part of the political crisis and toppling of the Congress Govt. in the State.
Reiterating the party's claim how the BJP party used the Raj Bhawan to create a political mess in the state that ultimately had led to ouster of Nabam Tuki Government, Richo stated that Modi Govt. has imposed President's Rule in the state forcefully without knowing the ground reality.
Richo went to say that "The PPA being the lone regional party in the state should not succumb to the pressure and tactics of BJP and keep its own identity and dignity intact."
Member of Parliament Ninong Ering also reacted strongly to the latest political development in the state.
"The move is nothing but mockery of democracy," Ering stated in a release. He also said that the idea behind the move is dangerous not only to Arunachal Pradesh but to the very idea of India.
It seems that a party with 280 plus seats at Union level is still scared of the Indian National Congress Party. This is why they are putting their best efforts to merge PPA with BJP. A politics of narrow minds and short vision won't yield any fruits for anyone, he added.
Chief Minister Kalikho Pul recently attended the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) meet in Guwahati, wherein strengthening of regional parties were emphasized using NEDA as platform for development and growth.
At a time when he is taking positive efforts to do good for the people of Arunachal in particular and North East in general then why is BJP creating hurdles and roadblocks to suppress a smaller party like PPA, Ering questioned.
He said that BJP's effort to merge PPA within them is just a desperate effort to establish their rule and kill smaller parties. It is agenda of BJP now to dislodge Congress Governments in smaller states, especially in North-Eastern region and force smaller parties to join them to establish their own rule, he added.
APSPCB directs power developers to follow guidelines
ITANAGAR, Jun 27: Arunachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (APSPCB) has directed the hydropower developers to strictly follow the guidelines of Central Pollution Control Board for monthly monitoring of Ambient Air Quality, River Water Quality and Environmental Noise Level.
The APSPCB Chairman, Techi Tagi Tara speaking in a meeting convened to take stock of the status of the construction activities on Monday emphasized for following the guidelines as quoted in the Environmental Clearance and Consent Order issued by the GoI and APSPCB.
The board warned of necessary action against the defaulters.
Expressing concern on the muck disposal pattern, the Chairman called on the project proponents to dispose it in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change and APSPCB. The half yearly reports were also directed to be submitted regularly for necessary action from the Board.
Officials from Hydro Electric Projects of Pare, Ranganadi, Kameng, Reliance, Dikshi, Meenakshi, Velcan Energy and Dirang participated in the meeting.
Detailing on the construction works, officials from Pare HEP informed that 65% of work is completed and the project is likely to be commissioned by December 2017, while the Kameng HEP would be commissioned by March 2017.
The construction activities are yet to start for the Reliance Energy because of the delay in obtaining Forest Clearance and due to the want of Siang Basin Studies. The construction of Dikshi HEP is on with the completion target set for 2017 while Gongri HEP has halted due to financial constraints.
32 top hospitals in Delhi to provide concession to NE people
ITANAGAR, Jun 27: Much to the delight of north easterners, top 32 Delhi hospitals have agreed to provide concessions in medical treatment to the people of North East working in unorganised private companies & students, lawyers, media persons under first of its kind - Reach Out Initiatives.
IGP Delhi Robin Hibu who is also a Nodal Officer for North East People, has been pursuing with the top hospitals including Fortis, Medanta, Apollo, Max Health Care and many others to provide subsidized treatment to the people of Northeast.
It is said that more than 11 lakhs NE people are either working in private sectors or studying in Delhi & National Capital Region and most of them don't have any medical insurance or facilities, nor they can avail the central govt health scheme (CGHS) like govt servants.
The NE people working in Delhi or NCR are left to pay for their medical treatments from their meagre salaries, leaving no scope for them to save money nor back money to their old parents back home, said Hibu.
On modalities for availing the concession, he said the people have to have referral letter from his office to be sent with attested ID card to particular hospital as per patient's choice with his/ her original identity card, to avoid any impersonation. This facility can be availed only by NE employees in any private companies/shops etc and NE students studying in Delhi, not for CGHS beneficiaries, he added.
Hibu informed that a thanksgiving function will be soon organised by the Northeast people of Delhi in July next, wherein all CEOs, CMD and MDs of 32 Hospital will be honoured with momentos and letter of appreciation by Central Ministers from NE region.
Arunachalee designer selected for fashion festival in Europe
ITANAGAR, Jun 27: Entrepreneur and designer Nixon Bui from Arunachal Pradesh has been selected to participate in the Fashionclash Festival of Maastricht, Netherlands from June 30 to July 3.
His brand NIXONBUI, which is based out of Copenhagen, is the only brand that has been chosen to participate from Denmark.
The Fashionclash Festival, which this year will be held for the eighth time, is sponsored by a number of big players in the fashion industry, like MAC Cosmetics and Pepsi Co. The festival is intended to provide opportunities for a number of young talented fashion designers to show their clothes to an international audience
"I am very proud and excited to get this chance. I look forward to showcasing my designs to an audience that are not just interested in fashion, but who works with it on a daily basis. I think the feedback I'm going to get there is going to very valuable." says Nixon Bui.
The Festival is open to all young designers. Every year, up-coming designers from all over the world apply to be able to take part in the three-day fashion event, and this year Nixon Bui was one of the few who got selected.

ROING, Jun 27: 'We should develop our skills and adopt modern farming technology for higher productivity and help develop our local economy', said Roing MLA-cum-Parliamentary Secretary for PWD & Sports, Mutchu Mithi while addressing the inaugural function of a capacity building & skill development training conducted under MLALADS and BADP 2015-16, for Hunli block at the Multi Purpose Hall here on Monday.
He also suggested the farmers to give more focus on cash crops and appealed to them to increase their credit balance at bank.
Speaking about issues like poor road connectivity and power supply in the district, he said most of the problems will be addressed once the Sadhya-Dhola & Alubari Bridge and power project connecting Pasighat line is completed. It will also help speed up development of local economy, he added.
He further urged the youths to change their mindset and stop looking for government jobs only.
DPO, Marto Dirchi in his address said that the training organized by Project Director, DRDA in collaboration with Change Foundation, a local NGO, aims at reviving local craftsmanship and other age-old farming practices and improving it with modern technology. 'In all, 93 participants will be imparted training on organic farming of agri-horti crops, maintenance of solar lighting system, electric wiring while, 90 participants will undergo training on craft making, cardamom plantation, nurturing and post harvest measures, pickle making in their respective segments, he informed.

Sisam Bridge opens for vehicular movement
YINGKIONG, Jun 27: Boarder Road Organization's Project Brahmank Chief Engineer Anil Kumar has declared the Sisam Bridge at 70 km on Ditte Dime-Migging road open for vehicular movement in a simple function held on Monday. The 40-mtr span prestressed concrete bridge greatly will facilitate movement of goods from Yingkiong to Moying.
In his inaugural address, Kumar informed the gathering that all the major roads in the Siang Valley, namely, Pangin-Yingkiong, Ditte Dime- Migging and Migging-Tuting would be converted into double lane National Highway in next five years. The preparatory works like DPR preparation, land acquisition, and forest clearance have commenced in this financial year for double-lane roads, the CE said.
He further informed that double lanning works between Pangin and Boleng road has been sanctioned and work will begin shortly. All type of bridges including Bailey Bridges on the roads in the area will also be replaced by permanent concrete or steel bridges in a phased manner by 2022, he added.
S K Pradhan, VSM Commander 761 BRTF informed that all efforts are being made to improve the quality of existing roads for smooth vehicular movement in the interim till the physical completion of double lanning works of 426 km length roads at a cost of 2773.80 crores including two Greenfield inter valley roads of Migging-Bile and Dumo-Sanebasti-Etaliyar.

ITANAGAR, Jun 27: Applauding the praiseworthy achievement of an Itanagar police team that created a history in tackling criminals in the state, Arunachal Chamber of Commerce & Industries has decided to felicitate the team.
Arunachal Pradesh witnessed highest ever dacoity involving civilians that too properties worth Rs 2.9 crore recently after the highest ever broad daylight robbery by unknown miscreants from Itanagar SBI in 1991.
Itanagar Police led by Itanagar police station OC N Sora and investigating officer SI N Nishant under the guidance of SDPO Hanyir Techi made the breakthrough in solving the case, arresting four accused and recovering stolen traditional beads worth Rs 2.9 crore. SI Nishant with his acumen used the available clues to zero down the criminals with the help of 3rd IRBn constables B Obing, T Abing, J Sisam, T Sikom and P Dorjee.
ACCI General Secretary Tarh Nachung recalled that huge traditional beads of Techi Gamro were stolen from his Nirjuli residence in 1989 which have remained unsolved till date. Moreover, 2007 beads theft case from Damsite house of former Nyapin ZPM Tarh Talar, in which locals and outsides were arrested but nothing was recovered.
The present breakthrough brings to limelight that the locals engage outsiders which is a dangerous trend, Lala said, adding that the present case is a milestone for all to emulate.
The ACCI, however, urged the GoAP, particularly Chief Minister Kalikho Pul and Deputy CM Kameng Dolo to honour the police team working under the guidance of Capital in-charge SP Kime Aya for its trend setting achievement. The GoAP should tighten the ILP provisions to ensure no unwanted persons enter the state.

PASIGHAT, Jun 27: Nari-Koyu MLA Kento Rina urged the officers and parents to set a goal for themselves and support the children and teaching community in imparting quality education.
Addressing the annual felicitation programme organized by Legong Banggo Employees Forum to honor the meritorious students of the area, who have excelled in AISSE, AISCCE, IIT and APJEE on Monday, Rina said that the most appropriate definition of education is, 'it enables one to have supreme adjustment with the environment'.

Training workshop on fruit processing concludes
ITANAGAR, Jun 27: The three days workshop on fruit processing organised by the Muskan Welfare Society concluded in the premises of the Fruit Processing Center, Raj Bhavan Complex on Monday.
Secretary Horticulture, Gamli Padu and Joint Director Horticulture, Kamo Ado handed over the certificates to the 16 trainees in a simple function.
Congratulating the trainees and appreciating the efforts put forwarded by the resource person, Trainer, Gojen Kalita, Muskan Welfare Society and the Secretary Horticulture advised the trainees to practice what they have learnt and also to tell others about the unit so that more participation is generated.

Orientation meeting held for SHGs
ITANAGAR, June 27: Two days orientation meeting for Self Help Groups of Dambuk and Anpum circle was organised on June 21 and 22 by the Future Generations Arunachal (FGA).
The meetings aimed to expand FGA's activities in creating awareness among groups to make them self-reliant through SHG livelihood activities and let them have a sense of ownership in the developmental process. Participants from all walks of life mostly women enthusiastically participated in the meetings. The Dambuk and Anpum circles remains cut off from other parts facing challenges in developmental activities.
The program was equally supported by Panchayat members of Dambuk, Bizari and Anpum area and also the Dambuk administration. Meanwhile, FGA program review meeting was organised at Primary Health Centers (PHC) Sille on June 25. FGA is managing two PHCs in partnership with the state government.

AALO, Jun 27: West Siang Mother's Vision, a local NGO has launched series of awareness campaign on cleanliness and drug abuse in different sectors and colonies of Aalo township from Jun 17 to 19 last.

RUKSIN, Jun 27: A three-day long XVIIth Annual Students' meet of Ngorlung Students Union under Ruksin Circle of East Siang district got underway at Ngorlung village on Monday.
Attending the inaugural session, Director of Elementary Education (DEE), Tapi Gao emphasized on the importance of sports and how it helps in staying physically fit, healthy and mentally sound. He advised the students to avoid drugs and urged them to be torch bearer of the society.

AR observes World Drugs Day
ITANAGAR, Jun 27: The Jairampur Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 25 Sector (AR) observed the International Day Against Drugs Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by organizing a mass rally in order to create public awareness on harmful effects of drugs abuse.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commandant of Jairampur Battalion said that drugs problem can be tackled by reducing demands and supply.
Drugs supply can be reduced through strict vigil on peddlers, seizure of drugs, arrest and conviction of drugs traffickers, he said. On the other hand, he said, demand can be reduced through creating awareness among public about the ill effects of drugs addiction to an individual's health, family and the society as a whole.
Assam Rifles is committed to overall development of remote areas, particularly its area of operation, he said, adding that the battalion will continue its welfare activities to make this place a better place to live.
ASU calls for early reassessment of TAH
ZIRO, Jun 27: Demanding for early construction of the Trans-Arunachal Highway stretch in the areas under Ziro circle, the Apatani Students Union has requested the Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner to complete the reassessment works for the land compensation at the earliest.
The union in a memorandum stated that no exaggerated assessment should be allowed while genuine and justified means should be adopted for fair compensation to the landowners so that the TAH compensation cost is reduced.
Further citing the delay in obtaining NOC from Indian Air Force to take up the highway work in the Ziro ALGs vicinity, the ASU stated that development should not be deprived at the cost of ALG which is only for defense purpose and not for civilians. It also requested not to divert the alignment and construction of highway in the Ziro-Hapoli stretch from the existing road.
CM assures due recognition to Rungkhi
ITANAGAR, Jun 27: Responding positively to an urge by Nabam Welfare Society, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has assured to honour and give due recognition to Nabam Rungkhi, the man behind to have proposed Itanagar as the state capital.
The Chief Minister promised to give lifetime remuneration for Rungkhi with land allotment in the capital city where he has been given government accommodation. He also promised to have a cabinet approval for awarding gold medal to Rungkhi.
Chief Minister Pul hailed Rungkhi as "visionary" man, who could visualise the benefit of having the capital city in Itanagar.
Had he not convinced the then Governor of NEFA, who knows our capital would have been still operating from Shillong," said the Chief Minister.
He said that people from other places like Basar, Pasighat and Tezu were reluctant to part with their land, and it is when Rungkhi grabbed the opportunity.
"Though uneducated on academic terms, he was aware enough to understand the importance of having a state capital," said Pul and observed that "people are still reluctant to part with their land to make way for development."
NWS appreciated the Chief Minister for felicitating Rungkhi on an earlier occasion for making his contribution known throughout the state.
The state government on an earlier occasion offered a new Bolero car to Rungkhi in recognition of his pioneering role in establishing the state capital in Itanagar, a government bungalow for his stay at Itanagar besides contributing two months salary of Rs 2 lakhs for maintenance of the vehicle by Chief Minister Pul.
Neirong lifts Summer Football Trophy
NAMPHAI, Jun 27: Neirong team beat Namphainong team 3-1 in a keenly contested final match of Summer Football Tournament for Girls 2016 at Namphai Government Secondary School Playground on Sunday and lifted the Trophy along with cash prize of Rs. 10, 000.
Runners up Namphainong team was awarded a Cup and cash prize of Rs. 5000 while the second runners up trophy and cash prize of Rs. 3000 was given to Old Plone.
Individual prizes were given to best coach, best manager, highest scorer, best goalkeeper and player of the tournament.
Altogether, seven teams representing seven villages under proposed Namphai administrative circle participated in the 16-day league tournament which was kicked off on June 10.

Fish seeds distributed to flood affected farmers
ITANAGAR, Jun 27: To encourage progressive fish farmers of Namsai to take up fish farming on commercial basis, fish seeds were distributed to 97 beneficiaries of 12 villages under Lekang circle on June 25 by the district fisheries department.
After distributing the fingerlings, EAC Lekang HN Dubey highlighted the importance of fish farming being a powerful income/employment generating activity.
The Assistant Director of Fisheries of Namsai also insisted upon judicious use of the fingerlings to enhance fish production.
Most of the beneficiaries were flood affected fish farmers.
Representative of PRI members were also present during the fish seed distribution programme at Govt. Fish Farm, Nongkhon and appreciated the effort of Department of Fisheries to promote fish farming in the district.
Construct durable infrastructure without compromising with quality: DC
TAWANG, Jun 27: Tawang DC, Kashish Mittal has emphasized the need to construct durable road networks and buildings without compromising with its quality.
The DC, who is also the chairman of the District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) was addressing a review meeting on the physical and financial status of the schemes under SPA, ACA, NLCPR, RIDF, CRF, NEC, DONER, PM Package and BADP of the last fiscal and upto the first quarter of the current financial year by various work departments of the district held here at the DC's Conference Hall on Monday.
Underscoring the importance and need of achieving the physical and financial target, Mittal said that endeavor should be made to maintain quality in every project. While directing the executing agencies to construct durable road network and buildings, the DC laid stress on the need to take into account the quality and maintenance of the projects. He directed the implementing agencies to tie up with the concerned ministries/departments for those projects which were pending.
He also asked to give proper publicity during the launch of completed projects and asked the department concerned to revisit old projects to take stock of the status for proper maintenance.
ZPC, Jambey Tsering also said that the main focus should be on power sector which is the backbone of all development. He further suggested taking up plantation schemes on road projects to control landslides.

Social worker Nabam Ama dies
ITANAGAR, Jun 27: Nabam Ama died at the age of 58 after prolonged illness at Borum village on June 24.
She was the wife of late Nabam Kelling of Sagalee and is survived by three daughters and two sons.
She was educated at Banasthali, Rajasthan along with late Bini Maya and started active social works with her father, who was a political Interpreter of Sagalee area.
She fought against child and forced marriage in 1970s and under her guidance, many girl children were rescued from child marriage. She also brought up many poor children.
PHC lifts Pasighat Dree Volleyball trophy
PASIGHAT, Jun 27: PHC Club lifted the championship trophy of the Pasighat Dree Volleyball tournament by defeating Ato Piilo Club (APC) by 3-1 set in the final match played here at J. N. College Playground, Pasighat on June 26.
The best player award was given to Pura Bhai of PHCC.
DFO Wildlife, Pasighat, Tashi Mize presented the trophies with the cash prizes to the champions and the runners-up.
Students demand magisterial inquiry into youth's death
ITANAGAR, Jun 27: All Namsai District Students Union (ANDSU) has demanded a magisterial inquiry into the death case of Chow Pongseng Khamhoo, whose body was fished out from Nao-Dihing three days after his drowning.
The students union claimed that it was not about a case of suicide but a pre-planned murder.
The Mahadevpur Police after registering the case (No. 15/2016) under section 323/306/34 of IPC has launched investigation but it is taking time to probe the case, the students union alleged, and appealed to the state government to look into the matter seriously in order to deliver justice to the aggrieved family.
ENNG objects to forceful collection of taxes
ITANAGAR, Jun 27: The Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) has strongly objected to reported collection of 'taxes' from villagers, truck and elephant owners of Tirap, Changlang and Longding (TCL) districts by NSCN(I/M) faction.
According to ENNG, the IM faction of NSCN is forcefully collecting taxes @ Rs.40,000 per village and Rs.20,000 from each truck and elephant owner of Changlang district.
Questioning the legitimacy of collecting such huge amounts from the poor villagers by the NSCN faction, ENNG demanded the central government to look into the matter seriously and ensure peace and harmony in the insurgency affected districts.
ENNG stated that the illegal acts by the NSCN (IM) is not only hindering in development process but also pushing the poor villagers into poverty.
